March 2023 (Cookeville, TN.)

The Hospice and Palliative Credentialing Center (HPCC) is pleased to announce that Sarah Hawn, RN at Caris Healthcare, has successfully achieved certification as a Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Nurse.

HPCC, formerly the National Board for Certification of Hospice and Palliative Nurses (NBCHPN®), is the only organization that offers specialty certification for all levels of hospice and palliative nursing care, administrators and perinatal loss care professionals.

HPCC is the only organization that offers specialty certification for all levels of hospice and palliative nursing care, administrators and perinatal loss care professionals. Each certification is valid for a four year period at which time the certificate may renew their credential.

In September 2002, the Hospice and Palliative Credentialing Center (HPCC) initiated certification for Nursing Assistants. Successful candidates are awarded the credential CHPNA® (Certified Hospice and Palliative Nursing Assistant). Currently there are over 4,000 nursing assistants who hold the CHPNA® credential.

Certification is highly valued, backed by research studies, and provides formal recognition of a standard of knowledge in the specialty of hospice and palliative care. The designation is recognized by the Accreditation Board for Specialty Nursing Certification (ABSNC).

Preferred as a current measure of continuing competence in the dynamic and evolving health care professional role, HPCC certification is valid for four years and can be renewed. Together with the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association and the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Foundation, HPCC works to advance expert care in serious illness.
