KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Caris Healthcare welcomes Deaver T. Shattuck to its family of dedicated physicians and healthcare providers. Shattuck is a charter member of the Society of Hospital Medicine and was the original hospitalist at Blount Memorial Hospital, where he continues to practice.

Shattuck is the medical director and founder of Blount Hospitalists and has served at BMH as chief of staff. He has been responsible for numerous quality initiatives at BMH, championing the hospital’s EMR implementation, establishing the sepsis team, and leading the effort for the hospital to become a primary stroke center. He continues to serve as medical director for the stroke program, serves on Tennessee’s Stroke Best Practices Task Force, and often presents on stroke care and on our community’s addiction epidemic.

Shattuck co-founded Blount Senior Care Partners with Dr. Teresa Catron, which is now the largest private geriatric group in Tennessee. The group provides complete care in a unique model from several venues: their geriatric specialty clinic; all the long-term care, rehab, and assisted living facilities in Blount County; and Blount Memorial Hospital. Blount Senior Care Partners have developed service lines in not only specialty geriatric care, but also foot and wound care, and offer the only fully integrated geriatric-focused mental health services in the area.

Encouraged by the growth and the clinical excellence of these groups, Shattuck expanded the group’s care model into Knoxville with HouseCall Primary Care.

Shattuck was born in Knoxville, Tenn. and raised in nearby Clinton. He is a proud member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. Shattuck and his wife Christie recently celebrated their 25th anniversary and have five children.
