Healthcare communities across the nation celebrate National Skilled Nursing Care Week from May 9-15, 2021. National Skilled Nursing Care Week, formerly known as National Nursing Home Week, was established by the American Health Care Association (AHCA) in 1967 to recognize the role of skilled nursing care centers in caring for America’s seniors and individuals with disabilities.
This year’s theme is “Together Through the Seasons.” The American Health Care Association offers insight on the theme: “The theme will honor the collaborative commitment of skilled nursing care facilities and their staff in providing compassionate care to their residents during this unprecedented time.”
The recent COVID-19 pandemic presented various challenges for everyone, especially our skilled nursing care facilities. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) gave guidance to skilled nursing care facilities to restrict visitation to decrease the spread of COVID-19. We watched as our partnering facilities bent over backward with creativity to maintain a cheerful environment for their patients, all while providing personalized and compassionate care.
Caris Healthcare appreciates our skilled nursing care facility partners who collaborate with us to offer excellent end-of-life care for the patients we serve. We are proud to work together with you through the challenging season of COVID-19 and the brighter seasons to come.
