Each quarter, our teams send in stories of how they honored their patients’ Three Most Important Things, and each quarter our senior leadership team chooses one which they deem “the best” of the quarter. This is a coveted honor and brings immense pride to the team.

Our Cedar Bluff office took home that honor in January when their Q4 story was chosen. Theirs is a remarkable story of four brothers who live on their family land and have cared for each other since they were children. Our team has been providing hospice care for one of the brothers and spends a good deal of time talking with each of them. Over the course of these conversations, it was discovered that they tend to eat simple meals and do not have a wide variety of recipes. As Thanksgiving approached, the Caris team pooled funds to provide dinner from a local restaurant. The brothers were surprised but grateful.

Our team was thrilled to treat them to a holiday feast that would provide leftovers for several meals, and while the team unloaded the dinner, our administrator noted that there weren’t any family photos on the walls. The brothers had never had their picture taken together. We remedied that quickly, had the photo printed and framed and brought it to the brothers as a Christmas gift. This family taught us all so much about brotherly love. We were honored that we were able to get to know each of them and provide some holiday joy.
