Savoring Our Precious Moments

Each quarter, we ask our teams to share the story they are most proud of in regards to honoring a patient’s Three Most Important Things. We pride ourselves in getting to know each patient and family well so that we may provide meaningful care. It is important to understand each patient’s goals so that we can support them in their journey and provide experiences to enrich their end-of-life.

Our Lawrenceburg office recently admitted a patient with terminal cancer. She worried most about missing her daughter’s wedding scheduled for later in the year due to high pain levels. Our team worked to get her a pain pump to make movement manageable, and she even enjoyed shopping for the perfect mother-of-the-bride dress. The moment she tried it on, everyone was moved to tears.

As the cancer progressed, she became frailer, and her daughter moved up the date of the wedding to ensure her mother would be there. Our team jumped into action ensuring she had the medications and oxygen she would need to attend.

Well-prepared and smiling from ear to ear, she watched her daughter walk down the aisle and dance at the reception. She was even able to have a mother-daughter dance. At the end of the night, she was presented with the bouquet.

Everyone who helped make this moment possible shared their gratitude. This day and the weeks leading up to it stood as a powerful reminder of how vital individualized, compassionate care is in helping us all experience life’s most precious moments.
