On the Road with Caris: St. Louis Your Life, Our Mission
By Norman McRae
(St. Louis, MO, September 27) — While visiting with our Caris St. Louis staff I heard the story of how our team cared for a nurse with whom they had worked with at one of our partner nursing centers. Jan Radcliff, Patient Care Manager, at Caris St. Louis had known this nurse professionally for many years. When this nurse called to inquire about hospice services for herself, Jan said we will be there and we will care for you. Jan was honored to be with the patient and family in the early hours of the day she passed away. Jan has seen many patients in the last hours of life and she gently explained to the family what was happening. Because of Jan’s skillful instructions, the family was able to surround their wife and mother at the moment of her passing. Jan said, “I have known her professionally as a nurse since the 1990s and we just take care of our own.” At Caris all of our patients become our own.
