Pediatric Hospice Support

A child’s life should be filled with the highest-level of love, comfort and care. Caris Kids, our pediatric hospice care program provides children with the care they need and parents with the support they deserve. At Caris, we understand the decision to seek hospice care for a child is a particularly difficult and heartbreaking one. Pediatric patients and their families face a situation that requires the utmost level of compassion from a hospice care provider.

Concurrent Care

Concurrent Care

Most pediatric patients are eligible for concurrent care. This means our team can focus on managing your child’s symptoms while your medical provider is fighting the disease.

This means that hospice care can begin sooner, while still receiving disease modifying treatment. Any child with a life limiting illness and under the age of 18 may be considered for hospice care can based on insurance criteria. If you have questions about patient eligibility, please call our team at 1-866-694-4848.

Sebastian’s Story

Our team met Sebastian when he was 2 and a half months old. The hospice team embraced Sebastian with open arms. We brought in special equipment, comforted his parents, and ensured that every moment was filled with love and care.

Bringing Dog Treats

Tami Coshatt, RN has become the go-to nurse for her office when it comes to pediatric hospice patients. She knows that spoiling them is an essential part of the job along with becoming a shoulder to lean on for their parents.

Our Passion is Personal

For our teams, this work is not just a job. They have been drawn into hospice care as a calling, usually because of something they experienced personally. Jennifer Hughes of our Abingdon office shared the story of caring for her mother at the tender age of 13 without the assistance of hospice.
