The word ‘Caris’ comes from an ancient Greek word meaning ‘grace.’ The last days of life are a sacred time, and we feel strongly that grace should be present when and where it is needed most.
Caris believes in providing compassionate care to each and every patient that we serve, and we are grateful and honored to have touched the lives of over 30,000 patients and their families since we began. With each patient, each family member, and every step of our journey, our vision has not wavered – Caris is driven to provide world-class end-of-life care.
Because of the caring commitment of our employees and volunteers, Caris has grown from our first office in Cookeville to more than 28 offices in Tennessee, Virginia, Missouri, South Carolina, and Georgia. Caris’ mission is to be the leader in hospice care, and our values of compassion, accountability, respect, integrity, and service ensure that we are able to achieve excellence in each area that we serve.
“You matter because you are you and you matter until the last moment of your life. We will do all we can, not only to help you die peacefully, but also to live until you die.”
— Cicely Saunders, founder of the modern hospice movement
